Rob Eccles
Senior Creative Designer.
Rob has been with Standout for a number of years now and has been a key factor in the companies growth and success. Rob boasts a long background in design and advertising, although he’ll never admit how long, as his age is a mystery! After 4 years at Loughborough College Rob went straight to work at a small advertising agency where he really learnt his skills quickly, being involved in every aspect of the job from concept to print ready artwork. This knowledge proved really valuable as he moved to larger award winning advertising agencies with similarly larger blue chip clients, creating everything from T.V., Radio and press ads to packaging, brochures and direct mail. The broad range of clients included fashion and sports brands, banks, beverages and a personal favourite Mr. Porky pork scratchings (Rob is also very fond of pork pie). Working alongside great creatives during this journey has made Rob realise that designing should always be a fun process and that the big idea can come from anywhere.
It’s great working at Standout and being part of a fully integrated agency. The team are a really talented bunch of people, who are all working towards the same goal… achieving outstanding results for our clients. I also like the broad range of clients Standout have and the varied work we produce, it makes each day exciting. I love seeing what the digital guys produce as it can be so different to what we are working on and can spark ideas and give inspiration on the offline side too.
Standout works with some great brands and it’s always a thrill telling people what you’ve produced, especially if they’ve seen it in the marketplace.
Being the offline Creative Director entails that I work on creative projects and oversee all creative work within the offline department. I work closely with Dan and the account teams and especially the other members of the offline team to ensure that we get the best results from all briefs and that what we produce is effective for the client.
What’s your favourite vegetable?
Anything that is an odd shape or looks funny maybe a carrot that resembles Elvis for example.
What’s your favourite sandwich?
Tuna Mayo with a bit of cracked black pepper. I like to put cracked black pepper on everything because it makes me feel like a chef. If Tuna isn’t available I quite like a crisp sandwich, preferably cheese and onion flavour with brown sauce on.
What’s your favourite film?
Rocky (No.1 is probably the best but I like them all, except 5 which is rubbish!)
