E-Books or No E-Books?

Amazon is launching their new and improved e-kindle (e-book reader); is this something that will catch on or are books irreplaceable?

Amazon is launching their new and improved e-kindle (e-book reader) which coincides with the launch of Amazon’s local UK store at the end of August. The UK store will offer 400,000 titles, or what they claim is the widest selection of books in the UK market. However, do people still read books?? or have most joined the revolution of e-books??

Amazon may find it difficult to retain their customers considering the launch of the Apple’s Ipad. Although more expensive, the Apple Ipad offers far more flexibility for the user (reader) in the thousands of applications that can be purchased; it is not limited to books alone.

I’m not sure I could convert to e-books, I love going to book stores and being faced with endless titles and reading through numerous synopses (blurb) until finally you find that one that really tickles your fancy. There is nothing like sitting down with a book and getting lost in it. Sitting on a e-book really wouldn’t feel the same and I’d probably get a headache from looking at the screen for too long.

I’m sure there are many out there that love to read the way I do, but I fear future generations will not have the same appreciation for reading a book the old fashioned way.
