The Wonderful Wynyard Hall
In 2007 we were contacted by Brian about working with his hotels at the time. We did not get to work with him on that occasion but brilliantly he contacted us when he landed at Wynyard Hall many years later.
From the first visit we were completely blown away by the Wynyard Estate and all it had to offer. Owned by Sir John Hall and operated by his family, the Wynyard Estate has so many incredible assets: not least its roaming and expansive estate adjacent to an equally roaming golf course; the most Disney picturesque lake with an award winning and mostly fully booked spa on its shores; the main house, which is epic; a dedicated 1000 capacity event venue and the newly developed garden centre built on the original walled garden.
Our job was to help Wynyard Hall define what it is, help them rebuild their local reputation and position the brand for the future. Quite often the brand identity role with such an iconic and classical property is a process of evolution rather than completely changing things.
And this is what our creative team went on to do. They cleverly evolved the brand identity, updating typefaces and simplifying the original mark to provide a cleaner and more contemporary feel to the identity whilst retaining the grandeur of the original mark. The team then went on to develop the new Wynyard Hall website, literature, stationery and advertising for all aspects of the luxury hotel destination.
A key factor in the repositioning of Wynyard Hall was the creation of the strapline and positioning statement to run throughout their communications. We developed the idea of Wynyard being (or rather becoming) ‘The North East’s most loved destination’. It was openly agreed that this was an objective rather than being the case at that time. If they could become the North East’s most loved destination then they will have undoubtedly succeeded. Further to that we expanded this to include ‘The North East’s most flavoursome destination’ for their food and beverage offering, ‘The North East’s most relaxing destination’ for their spa, and ‘The North East’s most romantic destination’ for their expanding wedding offering.
We have to say that it’s a pleasure to work with the team at Wynyard Hall who put absolutely everything in to making Wynyard great.
